Hello students! This is a first in a series of Health Law AMA’s (AMA = “ask me anything”). We provide lunch, a special guest lawyer, and the rest is up to you.
This is a chance to meet people working in the field, hear about what they do, and pick their brains.
Please welcome our guest…
Debra Gerardi, RN, MPH, JD
Coach/ Consultant/ Conflict Specialist / Lecturer of Law- UC Hastings CNDR
Debra is a healthcare conflict engagement specialist and consultant providing executive coaching, mediation and facilitation services, conflict assessment and professional development programs to healthcare organizations internationally. She is the Chief Creative Officer for Emerging Healthcare Communities (EHCCO), where our focus is working to improve collaboration and conflict engagement among health professionals as a means of positively shifting the overall culture of healthcare. She has provided professional services to over 100 leading healthcare organizations including: the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality; The Joint Commission; the World Health Organization World Alliance for Patient Safety; the American Nurse Executives Organization, the American Medical Association, the and over 40 academic and community medical centers including Mass General, UCLA, UCSF and Stanford Hospital.
As a licensed registered nurse with over 30 years of experience working in and with healthcare organizations, Debra is familiar with the competing demands and increasing challenges that health professionals face. She believes that health professionals have a strong commitment to their desire to help others heal, and often the work of providing healthcare is not aligned with their deeper calling. She sees her work as an opportunity for helping health professionals reconnect to their greater purpose and engage in ways that are meaningful, productive and healthy.
